- Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, participated in the 15th G20 Summit convened by Saudi Arabia, on 21-22 November, 2020.
- On November 17, 2020, the 12th BRICS or 2020 BRICS Summit was held virtually and was hosted by Russia. The theme of the 12th BRICS Summit was ‘Global Stability, Shared Security, and Innovative Growth’. The Summit is attended by the Heads of State or Heads of Government of the five member states-- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
- National Ayurveda Day 2020 is being observed on Friday, 13 November. The day is being celebrated every year from 2016 on the day of Dhanwantri Jayanti or Dhanteras.
- The place at which India's first solar power driven miniature train was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
- The second phase of Exercise Malabar 2020 conducted in the Northern Arabian Sea from November 17 to 20, 2020. Taking forward the synergy achieved in the recently concluded Phase 1 of Exercise Malabar 2020, which was conducted in the Bay of Bengal from November 3 to 6, 2020, this phase will involve coordinated operations of increasing complexity between the navies of Australia, India, Japan and the United States.
- The Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh which has been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve by the international organisation.
- The first-ever joint tri-service exercise between India and Russia codenamed INDRA 2019 conducted from December 10-19.
- The Lachit Divas was celebrated in several parts of the country on November 24. The day was celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lachit Borphuran. About Lachit Divas It is mainly celebrated in Assam to commemorate the heroism of Lachit Borphukan.

Public Affairs Index-2020
In the recently released Public Affairs Index-2020, Kerala was adjudged the best governed State in the large States category, while Uttar Pradesh ended at the bottom.
- The index is released by the Public Affairs Centre: Public Affairs Centre is a not-for-profit organisation, headed by former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K. Kasturirangan.
- The index ranks States based on governance performance giving a composite index in the context of sustainable development.
Performance of different States:
- In the large State category
- At the top: Four southern States - Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka stood in the first four ranks in terms of governance.
- At the bottom: Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Bihar were at the bottom of the ranking.
- In the small State category
- At the top: Goa ranked first, followed by Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh.
- The worst performers with negative points: Manipur, Delhi and Uttarakhand
- Union Territories
- Chandigarh emerged at the top in the category of Union Territories followed by Puducherry and Lakshadweep.
- Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Andaman, Jammu and Kashmir and Nicobar were the worst performers.
Significance:
- The governance performance is analysed in the context of sustainable development defined by the three pillars of equity, growth and sustainability.
- The index must compel to reflect on the economic and social transition that is under way in India.
PSLV-C49/EOS-01
PSLV-C49PSLV successfully launches EOS-01 and nine customer satellite from Sriharikota.
India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its fifty first flight (PSLV-C49), successfully launched EOS-01 along with nine international customer satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota on November 07, 2020. PSLV-C49 is the 2nd flight of PSLV in 'DL' configuration (with 2 solid strap-on motors).
PSLV-C49 lifted-off at 1511 Hrs (IST) from the First Launch Pad of SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota . After 15 minutes and 20 seconds, EOS-01 was successfully injected into its orbit. Subsequently, nine commercial satellites were injected into their intended orbits. After separation, the two solar arrays of EOS-01 were deployed automatically and the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network at Bengaluru assumed control of the satellite. In the coming days, the satellite will be brought to its final operational configuration.
EOS-01 is an earth observation satellite, intended for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support.
The nine customer satellites from Lithuania (1), Luxembourg (4) and USA (4) were launched under a commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).

Filling of fuel for the second stage (PS2), fourth stage (PS4) and oxidiser for the fourth stage (PS4) of PSLV-C49 has been completed,
World Fisheries Day
- The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India will award the best performing states in this sector for 2019-20.
- The winners are:
- Orissa (Marine State category)
- Uttar Pradesh (inland state category)
- Assam (hills and northeastern states category)
- In addition, the government will also reward the best-performing fishery companies, cooperatives, individual entrepreneurs, etc. in recognition of their achievements and contributions in this field.
About World Fisheries Day:
World Fisheries Day is celebrated on 21st November every year to express solidarity with all fishermen, fish farmers and related stakeholders around the world
It started in 1997, when the "World Forum of Fishermen and Fish Farmers" was held in New Delhi, which led to representatives from 18 countries forming the World Fisheries Forum and signing a declaration advocating for the development of sustainable fishing practices and policies.
