Minister of State for communications, Manoj Sinha launched India Post’s Internet banking facility for post office savings bank (POSB) customers, at the National Media Centre in New Delhi. A POSB customer can access the internet banking facility at ebanking.indiapost.gov.in.

  1. PSU Banks recover Rs 2.33 lakh cr worth of bad loans for 4 years

Public Sector Banks (PSBs) have recovered 2.33 lakh crore rupees worth of bad loans during the four years from financial year 2014-15 to fiscal 2017-18. As per RBI data during the financial years 2014-15 to 2017-18, PSBs recovered 2,33,339 crore rupees.

  1. Govt set to infuse Rs 28,615 cr in 7 PSBs

The govt. has decided to infuse Rs 28,615 crore into seven public sector banks (PSBs) through recapitalization bonds. The amount infused will help the banks meet the regulatory capital requirement. Bank of India is to get the highest amount of Rs 10,086 cr.

  1. Provision coverage ratio of PSU banks improves to 66.85%

Public sector banks' provision coverage ratio, which measures the provisioning for bad loans has gone up from less than 50 per cent in 2015 to 66.85 per cent as of September 2018, reflecting improvement in their financial health.

  1. RBI caps outstanding ECBs at 6.5% of GDP

RBI caps funds raised via external commercial borrowing (ECB) at 6.5% of the country’s GDP. Based on GDP figures for March 31, 2018, ‘the soft limit works out to $160 billion,’. outstanding stock of ECB as on September 30, 2018, was $126.29 billion.

    Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced a Rs 2250 crore scheme named as “ Mukhya Mantri Krishi Yojana” which will help around 22.76 lakh medium and marginal farmers to double their income by 2022. The Central Government has set a goal to double the income of all the farmers by 2022.

    The Odisha Cabinet headed by CM Naveen Patnaik announced the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme to empower small, marginal & landless farmers as well as landless labourers.
