Dudhsagar Falls
This waterfall is located in the Sanguem Taluka of Goa, and falls into the jurisdiction of the Goa Forest departments since it is a part of the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. The majestic cascade of white water, gushing over the steep, nearly vertical face of the mountain from a spectacular height of 1017ft; is both breath taking and awe inspiring, making one aware that there are many forces in nature much more powerful that the human mind and body. The name ???Dudhsagar??? literally translates to ???sea of milk??? which many believe is an allusion to the white spray and foam that the great waterfall creates as it cascades into the waters of the lake. The falls are at their zenith during the monsoon season, although they are a popular attraction all year round.

Fort Aguada
Fort Aguada is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Goa. It receives a lot of tourist traffic all around the year. Reasons are that it???s excellent for sightseeing and also that it stands as a testimony to the glory of Portuguese empire. Construction of the fort was undertaken by the Portuguese in the year 1609 for the purpose of keeping an eye on the movements through the waters and the nearby areas and the structure was finally complete in 1612. Since then, precisely for over more than 400 years, the fort has stood strong (although some parts of it have been ruined) and its magnificence remains intact. The location where the fort was constructed was of strategic importance to the empire and provided it a great defence base.

Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary
Named after the late Dr Salim Moizzudin Abdul Ali, India???s best-known ornithologist, this serene sanctuary on Chorao Island was created by Goa???s Forestry Department in 1988 to protect the birdlife that thrives here and the mangroves that have grown up in and around the reclaimed marshland. Apart from the ubiquitous white egrets and purple herons, you can expect to see colourful kingfishers, eagles, cormorants, kites, woodpeckers, sandpipers, curlews, drongos and mynahs, to name just a few. Marsh crocodiles, foxes, jackals and otters have also been spotted by some visitors, along with the bulbous-headed mudskipper fish that skim across the water???s surface at low tide. There???s a birdwatching tower in the sanctuary that can be reached by boat when the river level, dependent on the tide, is not too low.

Se Cathedral
Dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria, the Se Cathedral Church of Goa is said to be the largest in Asia. This splendid church was constructed in the 16th century by the Portuguese. The Cathedral lies to the west of the great square Terreiro de Sabaio while its portico faces the east. Climb a flight of steps to enter the beautiful courtyard of the church. The architectural style of the church is typically Portuguese followed by a Corinthian core and a Tuscan peripheral. The dimensions of the church are 520 feet in length and 181 feet in breadth. Initially, the facade had two towers on either side. But in 1776, the tower on the southern side collapsed. This bell tower was not built again. This gives the structure an exceptional look. The exterior of the church is plain in style yet attractive. Typical of the Tuscan institution, the style is noteworthy.

Palolem Beach
It???s high season here in the laid-back, popular tourist destination that is Goa, India. And despite the fact that most locals I???ve met have told me that this is the slowest high season they???ve seen in a while, there is still no shortage of tourists, both foreign and Indian, roaming around the beaches. I have chosen to spend my time in South Goa, on a two kilometer stretch of sand known as Palolem Beach, with its thousands upon thousands of leaning palm trees (just as there is supposed to be on a tropical beach) and about fifty or so restaurants and beach hut operations scattered in between.
